Are you interested in Computer Science and Web Development? Do you want to spend time at DALI learning how to create modern, impactful web applications? Sign up for DALI's Introduction to Web Development Course!
This course is a three-week program teaching you the basics of web development. You will learn how to make interactive websites with real data, including HTML and CSS, frontend development with ReactJS, backend development with ExpressJS, and much more!
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience with modern web development technologies, boost your resume, and be a part of the DALI community.
The program will meet two to three times per week for three weeks, starting during the second week of 21F. You will be expected to commit no more than ten hours per week, which will include up to six hours of lecture time per week and up to four hours of short assignments to solidify your understanding of in-class concepts.
Everyone taking the course will be taught the basics of client-server architecture for the first week of the course, which will walk you through the different components of a web application and what role each one serves.
You will then be split into two tracks for the remaining two weeks: either learning how to code a website that is displayed to the end user (what we call the frontend), or learning how to code the server that is the powerhouse of data management, business logic, user management, etc… (what we call the backend).
This course is open to everyone! We will be working with Javascript throughout the course, which is a modern, full-featured programming language. We find that a familiarity with basic programming concepts is helpful for this course, but it is by no means required.
